Anticoagulation Clinic

As a patient at ACA (Academic Cardiology Associates), we may recommend that you take Coumadin (Warfarin) to help prevent excess blood clotting. At your initial visit, a nurse will educate you regarding all aspects of Coumadin therapy. This medication needs to be carefully monitored to keep blood levels in a therapeutic range. Many things can affect blood levels including eating certain foods, coming down with an illness, or starting new medications. We will set up a schedule to have you come in so we can test your blood level readings. Itís easy and non-invasive. This is what you can expect when you come into our office:

  1. A medical assistant will draw a small amount of blood from your fingertip.
  2. Using a meter, your blood will be tested while you wait.
  3. Our nurse will then make recommendations or adjustments to your dosage if needed. We will take time to answer any questions you may have during your visit.

Please contact us at (248) 293-0055 if you have questions or want to learn more.
